Job Description

Overview

Provides small group therapy to eligible students attending a Catholic school in Toms River.  Therapy is largely in the area of articulation, but some sessions focus on language, fluency, and voice --  as identified in a formal speech language evaluation and Individual Service Plan. May provide screening and comprehensive evaluation if requested.  Create and maintaining Individual Service Plan for ESLS students.   This is a temporary position betginning Sept 3 through mid to late November, 2018.  !0 hours of work can be spread over 2 or three days in accordance with therapist preference.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs and implements intervention programs which remediate deficit speech/language skills of identified students.
  • Offers consultation and collaboration with school staff and parents in support of student’s speech language goals.
  • Acts as a resource to parents, school personnel and other caregivers in the area of speech/language development.
  • Administers appropriate screening and/or diagnostic tests to determine child’s speech/language competency, if requested.
  • Creates and maintains Individual Service Plans for ESLS students.
  • Interprets diagnostic tests, identifies strengths and weaknesses in areas of speech/language skills and generates reports providing feedback to school personnel and parents.
  • Is knowledgeable concerning all policies and procedures as established for these services by the Company's Program Manual, the funding source, and the individual school(s).
  • Completes required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.

Job Requirements



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree and NJDOE certification as a speech/language specialist required by contract.  Experience providing speech services in a New Jersey school setting strongly preferred.
