The Director leads Catapult’s Instructional Excellence team, providing vision, structure, and guidance to staff who oversee virtual and classroom instruction across Catapult programs. As a thought-leader in teaching and learning, the Director reviews and synthesizes the evolving research on virtual and classroom instruction, and guides the team in the creation of processes, protocols, and tools to manage and evaluate the work of Catapult’s teachers, to help the company build and maintain an exciting, ambitious, robust corps of teachers across the country. 


What you will do

  • Provide thought-leadership in the area of classroom and online instruction for members of the Education Group
  • Lead strategic planning with the Instructional Excellence team and set goals and milestones for improving virtual and classroom instruction
  • Provide ongoing direction and guidance to the managers of classroom and virtual instruction, helping them create processes, protocols, and tools to manage instructional staff in the field and continually raise the performance level of the Catapult teacher corps
  • Work with the Academic Operations and Research and Evaluation teams to establish student growth expectations, along with metrics and processes for measurement, for all virtual and classroom-based programs
  • Establish and maintain relationships with field leadership and schedule occasional site visits to Catapult programs nationwide
  • Assist the Sales team as needed in key client meetings
  • Assist the proposals team in drafting language as needed for custom programs, and in reviewing language as needed for other proposals
  • Assist the Marketing and HR teams in crafting dynamic teacher recruitment campaigns
  • Assist the Professional Development team in the planning and execution of internal conferences and training workshops

Job Requirements


  • Masters degree required; doctorate preferred
  • 7 years classroom teaching experience required; experience with at-risk populations strongly preferred
  • Managerial experience required
  • Instructional coaching or training experience preferred
  • Self-starter with the ability to influence and shape work, progress, and processes without explicit ownership or control
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; comfortable with Internet-based tools and applications
  • Some travel required
