Job Description


Catapult Learning is seeking a Contracts & Compliance Attorney to join its team.  This position will be located at the company’s Southern New Jersey offices, and will report to the General Counsel.

This lawyer will support the company’s Schools Group and have a variety of business duties, focusing primarily in the commercial, education, compliance and real estate fields.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position with serve at the legal business partner to the Schools group and will perform the following tasks:

School-Based Contracts

  • Draft, negotiate, and track contracts relating to the sale of school services.
  • Oversee administration of contracts.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Analyze billing and compliance issues that arise.

 Real Estate Matters

  • Assist with negation of leases
  • File and manage property damage claims for schools
  • Manage onboarding of new real estate onto insurance policies
  • Manage school and business licensing process

Fleet Management

  • Manage all aspects of fleet management for schools, including registration renewals, replacement of vehicles, and insurance claims


  • Respond to subpoenas and FOIA requests
  • Conduct legal research
  • Work with Outside Counsel on certain litigation matters as assigned by General Counsel
  • Assist General Counsel on certain litigation matters

Contract Management

  • Maintain a singular filing system for each Schools Group customer or vendor.
  • Manage contract renewal deadlines and attendant due dates.

Records Retention

  • Serve as records retention manager for the Schools Group under the company’s Records Retention Program.

Other Tasks

  • Perform such other tasks as assigned by the General Counsel

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will have a J.D. and 2+ years of general commercial transactional combined experience at a law firm and/or corporate in-house legal department. Education experience a plus.



  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to operate on a fast-paced, small legal and compliance team.
  • Ability to act independently and as part of a team. Ability to provide solution-oriented, practical guidance in working with Schools Group.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate clearly with business partners, colleagues, outside counsel and other stakeholders. Excellent analytical skills and people skills are essential.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, to work efficiently, to manage and to conclude, in a timely manner, many agreements, projects and issues.
  • Admission and membership in good standing to the bar of at least one state.
